Throne of Miscellania and Royal Trouble

Some relatively easy quests, but super important. Managing Miscellania is one of the most important things to unlock as an ironman, giving a constant stream of herbs over time in exchange for money. We might struggle for cash for a bit, but the herbs are extremely worthwhile. We also get 4 chunks!

There’s nothing here now, but a quest releases this month in Slepe so it’s cool to have it all unlocked

This lets us access the Arceuus architect to lock in the favor, and gets us towards Kourend Castle

I’m not killing Venenatis… reroll time! Last one 😦

Kraken cave is a really important unlock, but not for a long, long time. 87 Slayer, here we come!

The Dark Altar is a cool unlock. Important in several quests on Zeah, it also gives us access to Arceuus spells. None of the Arceuus teleports unlock anything for us until 83 Magic, but reanimation of ensouled heads is a great way for us to get some extra prayer levels. A decent unlock

Not quite as much momentum as I might have hoped, with our best chunks continuing to elude our grasp. Regardless, I’m super happy we doubled up chunk unlocks, it makes even mediocre unlocks feel like progress. Not sure of the next step, maybe even 99 Firemaking?

90 Firemaking and Fremmenik Trials

First 90 on the account! Honestly 90 is so high in Runescape, even if Firemaking is super easy to train. 99 in sight? For now, its a Hard Milestone, so we get an inaccessible chunk unlocked. We have a plan to access it pretty quickly though…

We’ve had West Miscellania “accessible” for a while thanks to the tiny island with a Fairy Ring, but no actual way to get there. With East Miscellania unlocked, we’d just need to complete Fremmenik Trials to do a couple of quests and the Managing Miscellania resource generation! If only there was some way…

Fortunately, we only need one chunk for that quest, and Arceus 100% favor was an Easy Milestone. Temporary access for 1 hour is all we need

Quest complete! We can now potentially unlock Jaitiszo and Neitiznot, and get Throne of Miscellania done! Great thing to cross off, very happy. 2 new chunks too, but these don’t need to be anything special, we’ve got momentum

Hilarious. The chunk we had just temporarily unlocked. I’m not sure it does anything anymore, but it does make getting around this region much easier so I’ll take it

Apparently our unlocks have a theme today! This unassuming bit of Rellekka is actually super important, since that dock gives us Waterbirth and Pirate Cove as potential unlocks, both of which would be important bits of account progress. An excellent unlock.

Throne of Miscellania time!

Western Easy

NW Gnome Stronghold turned out to unlock Western Easy! 2500 bonus xp doesn’t kick like it used to but I’m not complaining. Also comes with two new chunks 🙂

Not the first time we’ve rerolled this chunk. Useless swamp, the path isn’t even useful. 1 reroll left

Had to check we could actually use the shortcut into Rellekka without a diary, but we can! We still can’t do Fremmenik Trials without the more southern chunk, but more of the province will help with diaries, it unlocks the Mountain camp as an adjacency, and is overall totally fine.

Yay for unlocking chunks we’ve temporarily accessed. I don’t think there’s anything new here now or ever, but it does make pathing easier, has no negatives, and we’re low on rerolls. Chunks like this are why we doubled up rewards

90 Firemaking still the next goal, which should give a burst of progress

Full Pyromancer

Completed the Pyromancer set, for that sweet 2.5% bonus Firemaking xp. This gets us one chunks for being a boss drop, and one for completing a skill outfit.

By kc 239 we’ve had all the drops we could reasonably expect. Phoenix is 1/5000 and Dragon Axe is 1/10000 so I’m not getting my hopes up, but overall the boss has been kind

First chunk is pretty reasonable. 1/3 towards the ever important Jungle Potion. Nothing right now as is so often the case, but important later

We burnt 5 rerolls on this next chunk. I’m not gonna post 5 separate images, but suffice to say we have a lot of dead space to hit at this point, and we have rerolls to burn.

NW Gnome Stronghold is solid. Vital for the Grand Tree quest (and therefore its followups) and for Western Easy. We might also be able to access the Grand Tree bar, which would be huge. We’ll have to see!

Up next, 90 Firemaking followed by using a series of milestone rewards, unless we can access that bar

It’s been a while…

So its been some time since I last updated this blog. I’ve been playing reasonable amount but progress was slow and many unlocks felt so useless it was hard to write about. But we hit some big milestones today – 1500 Total and Base 50. We’re also doubling up chunk unlocks from levels and quests from now so we don’t run out of steam heading into the late game. So here’s a summary of how things look today.

Here are our stats. Slayer isn’t currently trainable but basically everything else has at least one excellent training method available. Next stat goals are 90 firemaking, then maybe 75 Ranged for Fire Cape. Crafting is also a priority as one of the only skills that actually locks content currently.

The main unlocks have been most of the area around Ardougne and Kandarin, plus the minigames Wintertodt and Pest Control. We’ve made decent quest progress – we’re up to Mithril Gloves from R4D and 129 QP.

Our bank has also made some insane progress. Rune Crossbow, Full Void Ranged, Tome of Fire, plus all the Wintertodt supplies means we’re looking really strong once we can start the Slayer grind again. We also have well over 1 mill in cash, probably approaching 5m if we can add bowstrings to all our bows and alch them.

We’ve got some good paths to progress for now, but our biggest obstacles are Morton (still) and North of Ardougne for various quests and training methods. Relekka would also be lovely but we have a plan for that. Jungle Potion and Sophanem would also be great but those need multiple good chunks so that will take some time.

I’m gonna try blogging again, we’ll see how it goes.

Giant Mole

He looks so adorable in his Christmas hat! This is a boss we’ve had access to for a while but I’m so used to efficent bossing methods I didn’t even consider how easily we could obtain two of his unique drops for chunks. This is not a boss we can realiably farm, our dps is terrible and we would need the Falador Hard Diary, but for now I’m super satisfied.

Mole skin and Mole claws are both unique boss drops in the collection log, and thus we get two new chunks!

The unlocks seem to really hate my temporary unlock system. That’s 3/4 temporary unlocks we have unlocked permanently afterwards now. Still not too bad, one positive adjacency and we did need later access for a few things so I won’t reroll it.

This one is worse, but still not getting rerolled. One very positive adjacency to the west for Enakhra’s Lament and the granite mine is enough to keep me interested. We only have one reroll left and I cannot deal with more Wilderness unlocks

We still have some momentum from the Yanille unlock, so lets get Hand in the Sand done

Witch’s Potion

Full Rune looks pretty damn good through nostalgia goggles. It’s an easy milestone, but we worked hard for it. Where to use this temporary unlock was actually a pretty difficult decision. Nothing immediately unlocked multiple chunks except the ones we really want permanently. It ended up being a toss up between Witchaven and Rimmington, with our proximity to all F2P quests pushing me towards Rimmington

Here we are. We’re gonna spend less than 2 minutes here, so I didn’t bother with a timer. All there is to do is make the magnet for Animal Magnetism and talk to the witch for Witch’s Potion

And here we go, quest complete. The Magic xp is enough to get to level 3 on a fresh account, but for us it’s less than 1% of a level up. Regardless, a new chunk is unlocked.

Ah the Wilderness. I’m glad you make rerolls feel like a good reward

Two is a row is pretty rude though. 1 reroll left

Now this is a great one. We can immediately do Hand in the Sand, and we’re one Magic level from boosting into the Wizard’s Guild for another chunk and the ability to buy full Mystic. Nightmare Zone also lets us buy scrolls of redirection, unlocking Relekka and Hosidius as potential chunks. Very happy with this

Next chunk would be probably be Hand in the Sand, but I have a different plan…

Corsair Cove

A very quick quest, with a trivial boss. No rewards really, but a free chunk and only two F2P quests remaining for an easy milestone.

Our chunk is an interesting one, but not one I was looking forward to. Two main features, the outpost and the assault. The outpost is locked behind the Barcrawl miniquest, which we are several chunks away from currently but would be super sweet to cross off. Assault is one of my least favourite minigames in all of Runescape. I never got a Fighter Torso on my main as a result, but on this account, it feels pretty damn necessary. We will see if I get desperate enough to knock that out at some point.

For now, we’re gonna get that Rune Helm for an easy milestone, time to kill some Ogres

We’re back baby

It’s been a while, but we’re back with several rapid updates. The grind had become very difficult, and so I mostly stopped playing. However, thanks to the weekly minigame Tears of Guthix, we got a windfall. It boosted our Slayer (which is otherwise untrainable) to 30, which gets us an Easy milestone.

We used the milestone to temporarily unlock White Wolf Mountain, with the goal of getting Ice Gloves. I incorrectly believed this would let us complete Heroes Quest which is still locked behind Merlin’s Crystal. It did let us start using the Blast Furnace with not embarrassing efficiency. We got our Smithing all the way to 61

1250 is a big one, since it’s a Medium milestone so it comes with 3 rerolls as well as a chunk. Fingers crossed, we definitely need something here

This is good! It immediately comes with another chunk because of the Corsair Cove quest, and the dungeon has Ogres we can kill for a Rune Full Helm to complete our Rune set. Adjacent chunks aren’t too shabby either, though nothing too important there just yet.

Next update will be the quest

1225 Total

Some combat and a smattering of other levels. The grind is super real these days. We killed a bunch more Obor and made some progress towards Infinity Boots, but not much else to talk about.

Our chunk is pretty bad. The Lighthouse is a cool quest once we can do it, but we’d need the chunk to the south and several chunks to the east before we can do it unfortunately. Without the quest, there’s really nothing here.

Next chunk is probably combat
