What Lies Below

Tragically missed the Quest Complete screen, but the chat is all there. 35 Runecrafting was a real pain, but 8k xp from the quest reward is fantastic. We also get a mini seer’s ring, which is a small benefit.
I thought this quest needed the Abyss miniquest, but it didn’t and that’s great.

Not having rerolls sucks 😦 Wilderness is so bad. Nothing of value here, basically a wasted chunk. 1 new also blank adjacency. Boo!

2 Levels from 1150, so that’s coming right up

10 kc boss

We killed Obor a bunch more to finish off an Easy milestone. I really wish he was a boss we could kill at will, rather than needing to farm keys, because he’s pretty fun. Nothing exciting loot wise, just some good alchables.

We’re temporarily unlocking Morytania farm. This only gets us one chunk now, but gives us good outs for finishing off Ghosts Ahoy and Animal Magnetism. 1 hour, lets go

We did it. Nothing too exciting, other than some super awkward transportation we had to do. Morytania Easy should avoid a lot of that awkwardness in future, with a teleport directly to Port Phasmatys. We also levelled our Runecrafting to 30 so we can put the 2.5k lamp xp towards it.

Our chunk is southern Crandor. This obviously does nothing now, but with another Easy milestone (or unlocking north Crandor naturally) we could complete Dragon Slayer! This would be huge and really catapult our progress forward. So honestly, pretty exciting

We got a fair few levels while doing various nonsense, so only 10 from 1150, which is our likely next chunk

Skippy and the Mogres

This is a super weird one. We’ve actually been able to do this for ages. I had assumed that the miniquest to unlock Mogres required you to kill a Mogre, and we would need 32 Slayer. Nope, just talking to a guy with the right items. So chunk unlocked, bizarrely.

A first for this account: I have never been to this chunk before. But it actually has some good content somehow! Access to some form of crab for AFK melee training is something I’ve wanted for a while and apparently swamp crabs inhabit this area. Who knew. No new adjacency since the town below isn’t reachable.
Edit: Turns out the crabs are ranged only. That’s cool and still useful, but probably not until we get the Ava’s Accumulator 😦

1125 Total

No significant levels up, just a few levels in a bunch of skills. Construction was all from Long and Curved bones. We got 44 Farming only to realize the diary actually requires another chunk 😦 At least we can grow watermelons now

This is a pretty unique chunk. There’s basically nothing in it – the rune shop is nothing new, and the archery shop isn’t of practical use. What it does do is potentially unlock the chunk below – Pest Control. PC is a great minigame and would be a fantastic unlock, and this is the landing zone for it. I’ve definitely thought before that getting the minigame hub should come with the minigame chunk, but for now we’ll struggle on without.

Next unlock is more levels? ugh

Using our new found Milestone powers

Here we are at the edge of madness. 1 hour of temporary access to Port Sarim Jail. This should be plenty, all we’re looking to achieve is completing Knight’s Sword, getting the map piece for Dragon Slayer, and talking to the guard for Falador Easy.

Step 1 complete. This is a classic quest, allowing you to skip from 1 to 29 Smithing so you never have to do all the inefficient early levels. We get to skip from 52 to 53, which is less dramatic, but still good

Chunk is east of Yanille. Vital for the Grand Tree quest eventually, absolutely nothing there for now. No new adjacency

Step 2, Falador Easy for that sweet shield. 2.5k Herblore xp is nothing to scoff at, and since we can’t yet make Prayer potions this is actually our only form of Prayer renewal.

Our chunk is one of the better Wilderness chunks in theory. The Revenant Caves feature a ton of monsters we can’t otherwise kill, and a bunch of gear upgrades from them. However, they are realistically inaccessible. Its a zone absolutely filled with player vs player combat, which we are not remotely equipped to deal with. So for now we’ll leave it. See if we get desperate.

We also got the map piece for Dragon Slayer – now all we need is Crandor and we can complete this monumental quest

Milestones update

A while ago I suggested meta-milestones as a form of progression for the account without reliance on grinding out levels, which is getting much harder over time. At the time, it was someone unformed as an idea, with relatively arbitrary goal posts. However, OSRS recently released Twisted Leagues, and with it a series of tiered tasks for players to get rewards. This provides a perfect touchstone for my own reward system. So we are adding 4 tiers of milestone, with tiered rewards

Easy – 1 hour access to a chunk. This is mostly going to be used to get progress with quests that are holding the account back. Not a super powerful reward, since the chunk still needs to be unlocked later, but allows for a burst of progress in a controlled manner.

Medium – 3 rerolls. Rerolls are reasonably powerful, allowing us to avoid useless and possibly even negative chunks unlocks, but still leave those chunks to be rolled later.

Hard – Targeted chunk, but not one that’s currently accessible. This allows for targeted progress, but when I actually get access to the content is still random. This is a powerful but not immediate reward

Elite – Bloom unlocks. When a chunk is unlocked, I can spend a bloom to unlock all adjacent chunks. This is very powerful, but befitting the very hard accomplishments an elite task requires.

Below is the current list of milestones. Many of the easy tier rewards have already been completed, and rewards will not be backdated, with the exception of Base Level 20 achieved earlier today. This list may change over time

Missed the chatbox so you get a closeup of the stats. This might just be a better way of showing total level milestones? Anyway, this was mostly combat, some fletching and woodcutting. Skills are getting real tricky to grind now if we don’t have the best methods. Combat is sweet though, feeling much stronger with the DDP. Just wish we had some better monsters to slay!

This chunk is great. At last, easy access to a Greenman’s Ale for only 2gp, now we won’t have to do that awful brewing nonsense. Oh wait.
This chunk doesn’t do that much now that we figured out brewing. We get to start Hand in the Sand, which is a super important quest, but we can’t finish it without Yanille West. We also get a good house portal, but its only good because of the currently inaccessible bank. Only new adjacency is Gu’Tanoth which isn’t great. Overall medium, being dragged up by how great Hand in the Sand will eventually be

Next chunk has to be at 44 farming. Beyond that is super unclear

70 Combat

70 combat comes with 60 attack and 50 defence. These a big levels, unlocking Dragon weaponry and Granite armor. Dragon weapons we have some access to immediately, but Granite will have to wait.

The Skull Scepter and DDP were our two big items from this grind. Skull Scepter is useful for a Varrock Hard step, and is another teleport. Dragon Dagger just cost us 30k, and we worked hard for the poison from Ankous.

Our chunk isn’t too exciting, but isn’t the worst. Skullball isn’t useable until we unlock the chunk above, so there isn’t really anything here, but there’s no new adjacency and its eventually useful so fine.

We’re only 3 levels from 1100 so that should come very soon

Total 1075

50 Ranged is the highlight here. Farming continues to creep closer to 44. Not much else to say here. We’re a little at a loss for progress until we hit 44 farming or get a good chunk, so fingers crossed

This is actually totally reasonable. Not for the Legends Guild, that won’t be accessible for a very long time. Not for the mine either. Turns out there’s a few maple trees around here. No-one would ever cut them of course, they’re so far from a bank. But for us… access to maples has been something we’ve wanted for 500 levels. Now we can continue reasonably progressing woodcutting and fletching, and hopefully getting some bird’s nests for farming seeds. We’re still using a mithril axe, but y’know what I’ll take it.

44 farming for Morytania Easy is the likely next unlock. Tree seeds should make that happen

Observatory Quest

Easy enough quest. Turns out we’re a Leo so we got some hitpoints xp to go with the crafting. This also gets us to 100 kudos for some bonus xp in the Varrock Museum, and we can start Bone Voyage. Sadly we need Woodcutting Guild access for the quest, but its still a good step

Our unlock is ZMI. This is where we will train runecrafting from now on. Without the teleport it’s still not a great method, but its much better than our other options. Adjacent chunks are all pretty good but not excellent.

Our next goal is either 70 combat, 1075 total or maybe 44 farming for Watermelons and the Morytania Easy diary. Hard to know which will come first
